Lazy Sunday Morning & Nails

This is what i call the perfect Sunday breakfast, Pain au chocolat, latte and orange juice.

As i am a uni student currently enjoying my 4 months of for summer, every day feels like a Sunday. It will be a culture shock having to get out of the house before 9am!

This morning i decided to paint my nails. This is a task that i find too time consuming and stressful normally. I do not have the patience to diligently paint on the layers of polish, then wait for them to dry. It turns out to be more hassle than it is worth. However this morning was an exception:

Orange and Burgundy are two of my favourite colours and i couldn't decide which to paint my nails. Solution: BOTH!
I was origionally going to the the accent nail (paint one finger a different colour to the rest) but i feel this trend is kind of over now so wanted to do something different. My friend Kate is a nail wizz and taught me how to do ombre nails. This is my first attempt:

1. Paint base colour- i used Essie- Orange It's Obvious

2. Find a sponge and paint a strip of base colour with a strip of the colour you want your nails to fade in to- I used an PococoNail Apparel in #7255

3. Sponge on colours- i started with the orange strip at the tip of my nails then slowly patted down towards to cuticles until enough of the burgundy is on the tip.

Hope you enjoy a lazy Sunday!

Shoes Glorious Shoes

“It's really hard to walk in a single woman's shoes -- that's why you sometimes need really special shoes!” - Carrie, Sex and the City

Shoes. Us women are genetically made up to lust over shoes, or so it seems. A necessity of course, but an all important accessory also! An item that will fit no matter what or how much we have eaten.
I have always liked shoes. However, i have never really made sensible purchases or acted on my shoe-must-have-urges. This leaves my wardrobe lacking an awe-inspiring shoe collection. This has spurred me on to create this segment on this blog. Basically, it's shoe inspiration, containing pictures of shoes i can  lust over and hopefully inspire me to pick up my shoe collection.
(how shallow am i?!)

1) The Studded Valentino

These are to die for (not literally). They speak for themselves. I first saw this design on a pair of kitten heels and i was torn. I loved the studs and the strappy sandal design, but i find kitten heels offensive and not acceptable. Luckily they have a [properly] heeled version and a flat version. Such a statement shoe. Although costing a great £600 odd on Polyvore link they will not belong to me for a very long time, if ever.
In the mean time i am on the hunt for a [much] cheaper version.

2. The Cut Out Boot

Cut out details in anything at moment is en vouge. And i absolutely love the detail on these ankle boots. I love these in both colours. The suede material gives a casual feel to them, a boot you could easily dress up or down. Make an outfit grungy, classic or western. The design is very versatile, and lets face it, they just look good.  The small heel is enough to give you a bit of extra height and better posture, but is small enough to enable you to wear them all day. These are from Topshop link and cost £68... something i need to save up for.

3. The Ankle Strap

Heels with ankle straps are everywhere at the moment. And Zara stock some great ones. Everyone has seen the strappy zara sandals with the ankle strap- i prefer these. They have a pointed toe, a shape that is making a come back and means that you can get away with not having a perfect pedicure! I love the two-tone on the coloured ones too.
A shoes that is simple, yet effective in sprucing up an outfit. And only costs £29.99!

My Autumn Must Haves

Recently i have been a lot more fashion conscious than previously. This may be because i have watched all of Sex and the City and Gossip Girl boxsets, amaazing outfits in both. I want Serena's Wardrobe!!

These are a few items on my wish list for A/W '13

1. Good pair of boots. Essential for autumn and winter! There are tons of amazing boots on the market at the moment all different styles and prices. I picked these as i love the cut out detail. They can be perfectly teamed with skinny jeans, checked shirt and leather jacket for a grungy vipe. Or even worn with tights and a cute skater skirt. I bought a pair of Topshop Chelsea boots link  (these are a similar pair) last year for £60 . They have got to be one of my most favourite, most worn shoes ever. So easy to wear with any look. I feel these will be a great addition to my slowly expanding boots collection. Also, they are from New Look and cost a lovely £24.99 my student budget screams with joy! (Topshop also have a lot of cut out boots, just be prepared to pay a lot more)

2. Leather anything. Well, maybe not everything... But, definitely in the jacket and trouser variety. (and by leather i mean pleather, but a good pleather...)
These next two items have been sitting in my H&M shopping basket for a while waiting for the opportune moment to be bought:

Firstly, i have been on a hunt for the perfect "leather" trouser/leggings. I have tried on enough pairs to decide that i prefer trousers. Leggings always come with a terrible fear of  "can you see my knickers?!" A question that i have said to myself in many a changing room. With trousers you are not burdened with such fear. Wearing leather can be risque enough, so proper precautions need to be taken before buying:
 1) not see-through.
2) Holds in lumps and bumps (another downfall of the legging variety)
3) can i sit down in these? (very import and some times overlooked)
I like these trousers link as they are  very flattering, they hold you in, and the pockets on the bum can give illusion to a nice perky bum if you are not lucky enough to be Miley Cyrus...  also, they are only £24.99!! I really want to pair these with a light coloured knitted jumper, the contrasts of textures would look fab.

This jacket just encompasses autumn winter for me. It ticks both the burgundy and leather box. Very biker-esque. I wear my current leather jacket practically every day, and i this would have similar consequences. Teamed with a white graphic T, and skinny jeans would create a simple, casual but well put together, slightly grungy outfit. link And of course, a great price: £29.99

3. Pieces with angular straight lines. This A/W is all about hard lines and cuts, whether on a jacket with cut-out lapels, boxy t-shirt, or an a-line skirt:

This piece is from Zara link  I love the shape and silhouette. It is also very practical and weather resistant as it is actually a skort. This means no embarrassing flashes, or awkward walking with hands strictly by your sides to prevent the embarrassing flashes. I'd team this with the New Look cut-out boots and a white graphic T. It is also easy to pair with thick wooly tights when it gets too cold!

I think this may be a Part 1 of a few blog posts. I really enjoyed writing this. And lets face it, there are plenty more clothes that i wish to buy!

Hope you enjoyed!

The Same Ol' Song And Dance

So i completely forgot that i had this blog, if indeed you can call it that.
My last post was over three years ago (!) and a lot has happened in that time.
For one, i am now 20 years old (ahh) and going into my final year at uni (ahh).

Over these past three years, i have watched a ridiculous amount of YouTube videos and read a ridiculous amount of blogs. I am more tuned-in to fashion and beauty that ever before. I have also turned into a bit of a shopaholic (YouTube Made Me encompasses a wide range of my belongings these days).

With all this being said, i want to try and give this blog another go. I am mainly writing this so i can persuade myself and kick my arse into gear. Although, in typical me fashion, i have left it to the least convenient time to do so with third of uni looming and all. But we will see. Even just writing this i feel more creative and productive than i have for a very long time.

Maybe see around more!
Sarah :)
Here is an up to date photo of me. This was at the beginning of pub golf for my friends 21st birthday! Visors are offensive and i am ashamed at myself for legitimately owning one.
p.s it may be controversial, but it is perfectly fine for girls to drink pints of beer!
